The collapse of
the twin towers of the World Trade Centre was a pivotal event in
history. It marks a new level of
activity by the international terrorist
movements. It also marks the beginning of the decline
of the United States as a political force.
God
is in control. He has proved that he is in control by
announcing them beforehand through his prophets. Knowing
that God is in control should fill us with hope.
These events of
11 September were
prophesied in Daniel 11:7,8.
One from her
family will arise to take her place. He will attack the
forces of the King of the North and enter his fortress; he
will fight against them and and be victorious. He will also
seize their gods, their metal images and their valuable articles
of silver and gold and carry them off to Egypt.-
Daniel describes a leader who belongs to
the family of the King of the South. The King of the South
represents the spiritual forces working through the Middle Eastern
nations. The King of the North
currently represents the United States.
Daniel sees a leader or movement that
belongs to the Middle Eastern family, but is not one of the Middle
Eastern nations. It could be Al Qa'ida organisation led by Osama
bin Laden. Al Qa'ida is an Islamic network and not a separate
nation. This movement attacks the United States and enters its
fortress. A fortress is the place where we find our security. The
people of the United States find their security in economic power
and military power. The World Trade Centre represents economic
power. The Pentagon represents military power. Al Qa'ida has
certainly entered the fortress of the United States
The destruction of the Twin Towers is
probably just the first of a series of attacks on the US Fortress.
The result of
these attacks will be a loss of wealth (gold and silver).
The attacks have ended the economic growth in the United
States that had lasted for more than a decade.
According to the
NKJV,
...he shall
continue more years than the King of the North.
Daniel 11:8
This suggests
that Al Qa'ida might last longer than the United States remains a
dominant power.
The
United States will be humbled in the battle against terrorism.
If it fights with military weapons, it will lose. When it
repents and turns to fight with spiritual weapons, faith, love and
the power of the gospel, it will be secure and participate in the
Victory of the Lord.
