| It should be
noted here, that the distinction, which is often made, between a teaching elder and a
ruling elder has no basis in the Scriptures. The distinction comes from a false
understanding of teaching. The comments made above about teaching make it clear that every
elder should be a teacher. This is confirmed by the apostle Paul who says that every elder
must be "able to teach" (I Timothy 3:2). |
